CfP: Workshop — “The History of Agrochemicals and International Development: Knowledge, Politics, and Business, 1940s to the Present”

This workshop invites proposals exploring how agrochemicals have shaped the relationship between scientific knowledge, international development agendas, and national political priorities from the 1940s to today, across different world regions. Organizers welcome contributions examining the roles of business firms and other non-governmental actors, as well as case studies of agrochemicals’ interactions with human and natural environments and the ways these have been debated, legitimized, or contested within scientific communities, development organizations, and national/international politics. The proposal deadline is 16 March 2026; submissions should include an abstract of about 500 words and a short CV (max 1 page) and be emailed to Elife Biçer-Deveci (elife.bicer@graduateinstitute.ch) and Viktor Blum (viktor.blum@eui.eu). Notifications are expected by 20 April 2026, and accepted participants will submit a pre-circulated paper (~5,000 words) by 18 October 2026.
