Abstract

This research brief discusses the growing use of virtual reality in tourism and hospitality. It presents VR as a tool that can enhance travel experiences, support destination and hotel marketing, and reshape customer expectations by offering immersive previews of places, services, and accommodation.

The brief draws on recent literature on virtual reality in tourism and hospitality, including systematic reviews and studies on destination choice, customer experience, virtual hotel tours, and travel planning. It highlights both the practical applications of VR and the managerial challenges created by its increasing use in the sector.
