CfP: DARK MATTER — Revisiting the Architecture of Coal in Post-War Europe (Dublin, 5–6 November 2026)

The ERC-funded ACME project (Architecture of Coal in Modern Europe, Advanced Grant 2024–2030) invites submissions for DARK MATTER: Revisiting the Architecture of Coal in Post-War Europe, an in-person conference hosted at the Irish Architectural Archive (Dublin) on 5–6 November 2026. The organisers welcome interdisciplinary proposals exploring coal and post-war modernisation through themes such as the architecture of coal modernisation, visual culture and propaganda, infrastructure, institutional care for labour (baths, hospitals, schools, clubs, libraries, social networks), housing and settlement, and the transitions and afterlives of extractive landscapes. The keynote speaker is Łukasz Galusek (Silesian Museum, Katowice), with guest expert panellists including Tom Avermaete, Stefan Berger, Carola Hein, and Imre Szeman (others to be confirmed). ICOHTEC 2026 Annual Meeting — Submission Deadline Extended to 15 March

In response to the strong interest in the 53rd ICOHTEC Annual Meeting and to accommodate colleagues who experienced technical difficulties during the submission process, the deadline for abstracts and proposals has been extended to 15 March 2026. The meeting will take place in Alexandroupolis, Greece, from 8 to 11 October 2026, under the theme “Engaging the History of Technology: Bridging Disciplines and Perspectives for Global Challenges.” This extension offers a final opportunity for prospective participants to complete and submit their work. We warmly encourage colleagues who were affected by website issues—or who need just a little more time—to take advantage of this additional period and send their proposals. The University of Toronto’s History and Philosophy of Science Undergraduate Society (HPSUS) invites undergraduate students worldwide to submit proposals for the 10th International STMS Conference, held in hybrid format on 27–28 March 2026. This year’s theme, “The Subjectivity of Science and its Impact on Societal ‘Truths’,” welcomes contributions on any topic related to STMS and the history and/or philosophy of science, including how scientific knowledge shapes (and is shaped by) social, political, and cultural contexts. The University of Toronto’s History and Philosophy of Science Undergraduate Society (HPSUS) invites undergraduate students worldwide to submit papers for the 10th International STMS Conference, held in hybrid format on 27–28 March 2026. This year’s theme, “The Subjectivity of Science and its Impact on Societal ‘Truths’,” encourages students to examine how scientific ideas, methods, and cultures shape (and are shaped by) social contexts—past and present—including topics such as race and “biological” claims, gender and sexuality, disability, Indigenous histories, ethics and governance of AI, eugenics, and environmental issues. Submissions are due Friday, 13 February 2026, and should include a 250-word abstract plus a 50-word bio, submitted via the online form; applicants will be notified by Friday, 27 February 2026. CfA: 2026 Midwest Junto for the History of Science (Purdue University, 17–18 April 2026)

The Midwest Junto for the History of Science invites abstracts for its 67th Annual Meeting, taking place 17–18 April 2026 at Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana, USA). Proposals are welcome for 15-minute, in-person presentations on any aspect of the history of science, technology, or medicine, as well as related STS/HPS fields; graduate students are especially encouraged to participate, and lodging for graduate student presenters will be partially subsidized. CfP: Workshop — “The History of Agrochemicals and International Development: Knowledge, Politics, and Business, 1940s to the Present”

This workshop invites proposals exploring how agrochemicals have shaped the relationship between scientific knowledge, international development agendas, and national political priorities from the 1940s to today, across different world regions. Organizers welcome contributions examining the roles of business firms and other non-governmental actors, as well as case studies of agrochemicals’ interactions with human and natural environments and the ways these have been debated, legitimized, or contested within scientific communities, development organizations, and national/international politics. The proposal deadline is 16 March 2026; submissions should include an abstract of about 500 words and a short CV (max 1 page) and be emailed to Elife Biçer-Deveci (elife.bicer@graduateinstitute.ch) and Viktor Blum (viktor.blum@eui.eu). Notifications are expected by 20 April 2026, and accepted participants will submit a pre-circulated paper (~5,000 words) by 18 October 2026.
